Dr. Kafri has been a board certified oncologist/hematologist since 2007. He is currently Director of the Hematology Oncology Fellowship Program at Ascension St. John Hospital and an Associate Professor of Medicine at Wayne State University. Dr. Kafri has a great passion for teaching medical students, residents and fellows as well as contributing to the fields of hematology and oncology. He has actively designed and enrolled patients into clinical trials and understands the scope of the problems related to them. He has worked on the statewide project team for the Pulmonary Nodule Program collecting research data, creating pathways and guidelines that have been implemented nationwide. He is also currently on the GI statewide team for creating pathways and guidelines. Dr. Kafri has published a number of studies both in preclinical as well as clinical settings and has always believed in teamwork and collaboration. Dr. Kafri designed the Hem/Onc Fellowship Program to create an atmosphere of balance between research and clinical environments, so the support system is present for Fellows to contribute.
